Welcome to Squire's Restaurant We are proud to provide our customers with a brief history of this establishment that our family has operated for over 50 years. In 1952 Joe Romiti and his wife Mary began operating a small tavern in Dundalk, originally established in the late 1920's by Fred and Lorraine Squire. It is from his family name that the restaurant's name originates. It was not long before our mother, "Miss Mary" as she was affectionately known, began adding a whole new flavor to Squire's by serving their customers her homecooked Italian meals prepared in her small second floor appartment kitchen above the restaurant. Slowly a loyal clientele developed and a small restaurant business was born.
These delicious meals became so popular with the families of Dundalk and the homesick servicemen stationed at Fort Holabird that soon there were more customers than seats. By 1964 The Romitis had enlarged the dining room by moving the bar into its' own room. Again in 1995 the restaurant was cramped for space the current bar and two new dining rooms were added. The exterior architecture was also changed to the classsical Italian style you see today. Over the years Squire's has emerged as one of Baltimore's best (and Dundalk's favorite) family restaurants. Today Joe & Mary's two son's Bob and Lorenzo, still serve their loyal customers with the same philosophy taught to them by their parents - provide generous portions of food home cooking at reasonable prices.
